<description>CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF ONLINE SOCIAL NETWORKING: IMPACTS ON PERSONAL AND SOCIAL LIFE, AND CORPORATE WORLD
M. M. SHAKIL BIN, ZAMAN
The global effects of Social Networking Sites are expanding, and Bangladesh is no&#13;
exception. Presently, using Social Networking Sites has become a routine work of&#13;
corporate people. Therefore, corporate conglomerates are facing a significant challenge to&#13;
effectively use Social Networking Sites to retain employees’ attention during working&#13;
hours. It is impacting corporate people’s personal and social life also.     &#13;
The main objective of this research is to examine the effects of Social Networking Sites&#13;
on corporate individuals in Bangladesh, exactly on their personal, social, and corporate&#13;
life. Accordingly, the gaps in the current literature are identified. Following that, a&#13;
research model and three hypotheses are developed based on the evaluation of the&#13;
literature. A survey is conducted on 350 corporate employees of Bangladesh for primary&#13;
data using a structured questionnaire both online and offline. Subsequently, descriptive&#13;
and regression analyses with correlation have been employed for hypotheses testing and&#13;
model verification.  &#13;
The hypotheses have been accepted in regression analysis concluding that Social&#13;
Networking Sites have both good and bad consequences on corporate people’s personal,&#13;
social and corporate life. The findings help corporate executives, IT decision-makers, and&#13;
knowledge workers comprehend the scopes and effects of Social Networking Sites in&#13;
corporate environment and personal domain of life. Social Networking Sites impact the&#13;
feelings and emotions of corporate people and enhance their job performance. On the&#13;
other hand, it destroys quality time and becomes a threat to privacy. Sometimes, it diverts&#13;
employees’ attention to ignore office work. Both positive and negative aspects of Social&#13;
Networking Sites have been investigated, providing a critical analysis of the research.  &#13;
Therefore, moderate usage of Social Networking Sites balances corporate employees'&#13;
personal, social, and professional life.

<title>Investigating the Appropriateness of Healthcare Robots for Elderly People in Bangladesh</title>
<link>http://reposit.library.du.ac.bd:8080/xmlui/xmlui/handle/123456789/1914</link>
<description>Investigating the Appropriateness of Healthcare Robots for Elderly People in Bangladesh
Huda, Sabin
Worldwide there is an increase in life expectancy, due to better and advanced medical&#13;
consciousness. Ageing issues automatically bring in factors such as health care and human&#13;
rights. An increase in the elderly population brings in a demand for increase in health services,&#13;
both physical and mental health. Old people suffer from degenerative, communicable and noncommunicable&#13;
diseases, as the body’s immune system no longer is as effective as of before, due&#13;
to the natural process of ageing. This health related and socio-economic issues make them&#13;
dependent on family members and caregivers. The fact is family members, professionals or&#13;
informal care givers are neither easily available nor affordable and reliable. All these factors&#13;
leave the elderly all alone, which in turn results in morbidity, loneliness, isolation and&#13;
depression. Nowadays, the elderly also want to preserve their independence and live on their&#13;
own. The culture of old homes is still in its initial stages in developing countries. Even in&#13;
developed nations living in care homes, away from loved ones and society does not seem to be&#13;
too much of a preference with the elderly. Here comes the role of Artificial Intelligence and&#13;
Assistive Technology, thus the Healthcare Robots which can assist, support and be a good&#13;
approach to the problems of the aged. This research work probes into the acceptability and&#13;
design specifications of the Healthcare Robots through data sample collection and analyses so&#13;
that it will meet the requirements, be cost effective, reliable and appropriate for the senior&#13;
citizens of our country Bangladesh. Thus it will be a milestone for developing countries such as&#13;
India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Malaysia, and countries from Middle East.
